Module 4 – Week 6 – Webinar 3

The third webinar of Module 4 and to a different group than I usually webinar with but the same tutor, Laura. I personally felt that I had not built enough on my project development since last weeks 1:1 tutorial, also with Laura, but still had new material to present all the same.

Overall my work was very well received and below are a series of galleries of work I presented. As the group were not all familiar with my MA practice so far, I also presented no older work where I experimented with slow exposures and the movement of Nagini through the scene.

Firstly I was very excited to present the photograms I had produced only that morning. These were presented to the camera as I had not had the chance to scan them yet.

These photograms were produced in response to the work of Toni R. Too omen as contact prints. I have previously discussed how Toivonens process involves the carcasses of dead animals on bronze and how this is out of reach for me. I have therefore decided to produce these photograms for further processing. These were then inverted. My intended further processes include digital manipulation using these scans and also traditional sepia toning.

The next gallery shows the liquify experiments conducted in response to last weeks tutorial.

These were very well received by Laura, the tutor, but less so by my peers who favoured the images from the next gallery depicting the slow exposures of Nagini moving through the scenes.

These were very well received and credit being given for the skill of creating them in camera. One of my peers suggested shooting again using other objects which may be less likely to be seen in a ‘momento mori’ scene such as toys etc.

No specific artist suggestions from this webinar but a push towards more abstract image making. Following this webinar I feel inspired and like I’m moving on a good path and that things are speeding up. I am really enjoying image making this module and feel a passion I didn’t experience during module 3.
