Peer-to-Peer Webinar – 12th January 2021

In the run up to this first peer-to-peer webinar of 2021 I was feeling quite flat and lacking in enthusiasm for just about anything and everything. The return from after the Christmas break has segway’d into another lockdown with remote teaching and I feel disorientate by everything. I go into this webinar with a selection of images shown on a Keynote but that my ideas have been going in an unknown direction lately.

The cohort ahead of us have concluded their studies and are starting to receive their grades. I’m met with this daunting feeling that that will be us in only a few months time. The words from Wendys supervision session with me before Christmas are still ringing in my ears and I’ve loved experimenting and making recently but I find myself concerned it’s not going anywhere and I feel hopeless in the creation of ideas towards an outcome for the FMP.

In this session a member of Dogger cohort joined us. Hilde Maassen had achieved a distinction and her extremely beautiful outcomes were shared with us. Her approach to book making, which was accompanied by a 3D printed cloud model, was exquisite! I find this to be something of a catalyst which has me very fired up and inspired.

Following this session I feel ideas flooding through my head and grab some paper to start folding and sketching out ideas for books. I’m also intent on doing a very large amount of printing over the coming weeks in a variety of finishes and sizes, this physical visualising of photography is so critical to success and progress that I can’t ignore it.

Mention was also made of creating newspaper style outcomes, this is something I want to research more and experiment with.
