Ecotone investigates the borders found within nature but are yet constructs off man-kinds observations and activities therein. Riepenhoff does this through the use of cyanotypes which have not had an object or subject blocking the lights path but rather in collaboration with running waterways found in nature. Rivers, streams and waves work with the paper and Riepenhoff to create abstract and somewhat surreal creations. Despite this abstract nature, the images rapidly take the shape of waves, splashes, rips in the tide and sometimes landforms.
Through my own experimentation with cameraless photography, largely using photograms, I intend to see what can be gained from the play of developer upon paper.
