This final webinar of module four had a bit of a sad feeling to it. I’ve really felt myself grow over these last few months and that is, in no small part, down to the guidance I have received from Laura.
This was a great chance to debut the technique I’ve been working towards. The creation of something of a stage with elements in their own spotlights.
This was very well received and praised. The stage images are working really well and having a purpose. Really like the birds. The decontextualising of the subject creates an abstract narrative which works well. Maybe I could try in black as the originals are blue screens where I’ve already made the masks in PSDs. This photographing and using of animals and their treatment as objects could be great elements of my methodology.
My recent scanography was also well received and opens a discussion on the process of photography. Making something become different, the process of image making even without a camera. What does it mean to become an image?
The work I’m making moves more into the theories of photography and exploring the ethics. The essence of photography, what does image mean? I need some answers already, to help people understand and convey. What motifs and core themes are in my methodology?
At this point my technical abilities are not in question. I have solved the ‘how’, now I need answers to ‘what’ and ‘why’. This will come through the FMP but for the moment they are questions I need to consider in the resolutions of this module.
