It’s strange, in my job I am a teacher of photography. Delivering lessons and workshops to over 100 students a week. Yet the thought of doing a workshop in the context of this course terrifies me. This is possibly something I’d just need to ‘take the plunge’ on and everything works out in the end.
Think about:
• Your role as a photographer.
I have always held the view that, as photographers, we have a responsibility to capture and show the world around us even if that proves to be an inconvenient truth to many. My role as a photographer is as a professional witness and to portray to the viewer the scene from before my camera.
• How you can help others.
As a photo educator I can help others by passing on my passion and by nurturing that flame towards their self improvement and progression in life.
• What teaching others might actually teach you.
Teaching others has already taught me much. Humility is definitely an important lesson, the readiness to be wrong or to have your opinions changed. I teach younger people in particular, 11-19 year olds, and it is from them I have grown and developed as a teacher over the eight years I have been teaching.
In your CRJ, write a short summary about:
• Any reconsiderations to the core methodology of your project.
I feel it’s safe to say that this weeks webinar shook up my understanding of the core of my project. See that post for more there. It’s made me question a lot of what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. These final few weeks of the module need to advance my practice but also my grasp on the conceptual elements of what I do.
• Moving forward, the forms your project / photographs could potentially take.
Since last weeks reflections my light boxes for Landings have advanced massively and I am getting closer to the finished article. These will then be exhibited next week. I am growing more sound, however, that my project should take a different path as it possibly evolves towards the FMP of Modules 5 and 6.
