As a preface I’d like to say that I am a photography teacher in a secondary school. I teach face to face with over 200 students a week ranging from 11-18 in age. Despite this, the idea of a workshop terrifies me! Nonetheless I would like to outline some considerations below.
What?
As my work progresses it is becoming apparent that I have an interest in decontextualising the subject matter I am photographing. Removing it from it’s environment and redressing it in its own. To this end my workshop could feature a chance for participants to photograph their own still life scenes and have them printed. These images could then be cut up and rearranged in the style of dadaism similar to the work of Hanna Hoch. These collages could then be rephotographed in different places further removing them from their context.
Who?
The workshop could be trialed with students I teach and form part of our course or it could also be run in a community from a facility such as a library. That would be for members of the public and quite open. The workshop could be ticketed to cover costs but costs only and promoted through various channels.
This could still yet form part of my FMP and could have further consideration down the line.
