Module 4 – Week 5 – Independent Reflection

Think about:

  • How much you consider the audience when making your work.

The audience is critical, without it there is no work. That said you can’t always go producing what will be popular as you end up selling out. I try to intrigue individuals but it’s not for everyone.

  • How much you would allow a curator to influence the reading of your work.

Sometimes that’s necessary. If they are going to be trying to show your work in its best light and to promote it then their influence is important. That said you cannot compromise yourself.

  • How curators could be useful to your practice.

Curation could be useful to my practice in the ordering and identifying of the best way to convey and promote it.

In your CRJ, write a short summary about:

  • Your experience of the week’s activities and feedback received.

The group zine was great fun but I wish we’d had more time on it. I am really enjoying the work I produce at the moment and that feedback is showing through the tutorials and webinars.

  • Any reconsiderations to the core methodology of your project.

I am starting to feel that the use of animals in my work is becoming of more importance. The context in which they stand is key and so is their representation.

  • The forms your project / photographs could potentially take moving forward.

This week I have decided to follow the exhibition pathway and for this I would like to produce a set of light boxes and find a shop window to exhibit them in. This could be a really effective way to show my work to larger audiences without the complications caused by Covid.
