Finnish contemporary artist and photography Perttu Saksa utilises soft lighting and off black backgrounds with wilting floral forms to create these superb but slightly sad images. Although I personally prefer to work with dead and dying flowers, these arrangements move to a new level. A particular feature which I would like to try and replicate in my own practice is the gentle spotlight on the back wall of each of the images and its role in complimenting the exposure within the photo.
Compositionally the images are not groundbreaking but an important consideration in the development of my own work. I will set about making transcriptions of this work and see where the creativity leads me from there.
