For my response to this activity I decided to return to some images from nearly two years ago. One thing I’ve developed a habit for is photographing what gets left behind on the tables of cafes and service stations etc. The images comment on the signs of life that are left behind although the people are no longer there.
For this I chose images from June 2018 at the Royal Victoria Country Park near Southampton in England. Being a very human location I was unsure what I would find given the present situation with Covid. At the time of day I went through the cafe was closed and there was no rubbish discarded but this helped if anything as the absence of items left behind are almost more haunting than the littering.
