Some of the colour casts achieved here have been really striking. The high back light has made some of the petals often translucent and the size of the frame has made the stem often feel delicate and fragile. The experiments where the daffodil is suspended have been less successful, I feel this may be largely due to the type of flower being used. Many of the colour casts achieved by the use of flash have a really interesting effect on the images. I would like to revisit these exact daffodil heads in a few days time and rephotograph them in a more wilted and deteriorated state.
The black and white images from this shoot have differing opinions in myself. I often like a high contrast in a monochrome image however the bleached out nature of the flower petals against the white background here works really well.
