Following the limited success of photographing thistles with film I returned to that subject matter but with digital. My aim was to produce a single image of each specimen, isolating the subject within its white space similarly to the works of Penn and Lippmann. For that reason the image selection process here has a lot of green boxes to the red boxes.
The lighting for this shoot was natural and utilised a reflector disc to defuse the light from behind. An image of the set up is shown above.
