Charles Church Houses is photographic that depict family houses, and their immediate environment, built in various English architectural historical styles by the Surrey based property developer Charles Church. The imagery studies the differences between tradition and modernity, culture and nature, and, how these tensions can be represented through photography.
Heron uses large format film to capture scenes at street level. The use of the view camera forms a nod back to the origins of photography by the pioneers; Niepce, Fox-Talbot and Daguerre. This sits alongside the use of a visual range of building appearances in a modern housing development.
