The main goal from these images was to have the Flare stacks and Chimney as a subtle and yet lurking feature of the landscape. In some cases successfully while those going about their business seem utterly oblivious to the impact of industry on their landscape.

This particular image is a favourite with the juxtaposition of those trying to obtain improved fitness with the stacks of the nearby refinery only 100m or so away. There are many comparisons which may be drawn between this and the work of Simon Roberts. The well kept lawn of the recreation ground beside the scar on the skyline of our dependency on fossil fuels.
